I Found Out That I Am Going To Go To Flying Squirrel

Yesterday I found out that we are going to go to Flying Squirrel. On my other blog post, I Want To Go To Flying Squirrel, you will know how much I want to go. I am going on Family Day. I can't wait for that long, but on Family Day we will go at 11;00am. At Flying Squirrel they have rock climbing, foam pits, wall to wall trampolines and arcade games. That makes me so excited to go there and stay for awhile.

Some of my friends went to Flying Squirrel. They said it was awesome so I really want to go. Flying Squirrel is like the Flip Factory, except that you don't do flips. I think Flying Squirrel will be just as awesome. When I go to Flying Squirrel I don't think I will want to leave. That is what my friends said. When I start, I don't know what I will do first. I also don't know if I can stop. I can't wait to go.

I think my Mom might have to drag me out of Flying Squirrel. I will probably talk about it nonstop on the ride back home. I will not be able to stop talking about it for a long time, and I will tell my friends that I went to Flying Squirrel and it was awesome.

I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL I GO TO FLYING SQUIRREL!

Christmas day

On Christmas day I woke up at 7:00am. I woke  everyone up by yelling "It's Christmas" over and over again. When everyone was awake we started opening presents by looking in our stockings first. In my stocking my favorite thing was a packet biscuits from India. I also loved the chocolates that were in my stocking. One of my favorite presents was a black note book. I also like my new Absolute Dance sweat shirt Santa gave me.

The presents were in a cool order. The ones in the candy cane wrapping paper were my uncle's. The presents in the striped wrapping paper were my sister's. The presents in the igloos were my dad's. My mom's were wrapped in the snowmen were my mom's and the presents in the polar bear and penguins were mine. I think that is a really cool way to sort presents. In my biggest box were the black boots I wanted. They were not Uggs, but they were cool. I wore my new boots the first day I went out somewhere after Christmas.

On Christmas I got an advent calendar so I started eating the chocolates on Christmas and shall keep going throughout January. On my advent calendar each little piece of chocolate has a picture on it. On my first chocolate there was a flower and on my second one there was a Christmas tree. Everyday I eat one chocolate. I haven't had one today yet but I will soon. One of my favorite pictures on a chocolate was a fish.

I loved my Christmas so much. I can hardly wait until the next one. I know it is a year away but I just love Christmas a lot. I hope you really enjoyed your Christmas as much as I did and if you don't celebrate Christmas I hope had a awesome day and I hope you all enjoy your break off work and school.

IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is Christmas Eve, I love Christmas eve a lot. For Christmas I want some black clothes and a pair of black boots, but I don't want high heel boots. I would like Uggs. Uggs are a type of boots. They are flat at the bottom and warm inside so you can wear them on a chilly Autumn day.

My parents are doing some work for Christmas I think they are wrapping presents or putting Christmas pictures in frames. I am also doing Christmas work, I wrapped presents for my dad, mo, uncle and my sister. I wrapped some of my stuff and some things I made.

I can't wait for Santa to come tonight. I hope I am on the nice list this year. I always wake up everyone on Christmas day and I am also the first to wake up. I wake up at 7:00am every Christmas day. I love it when I dream about hearing Santa's sleigh bells and sugarplums. I get so happy on this day.

Santa wrote me a letter and I learned how to say hello in reindeer. This is hello in reindeer, Biscup. It is kinda funny to say and Santa also told me that Mrs.Claus was at Elfin Elementary School to tell the elf's how she became a engineer. I love Christmas so much. I can't wait for tonight. I can't wait for Christmas.

Terry Fox Ran For Me!

Terry Fox was born on July 28th 1958.  He was really good at sports when he was at school.  When he was 19 years old, he found out that he had cancer in his leg.  The doctors told him that they would have to cut off his leg and he had to take very strong medicine.  They gave him a fake leg made of plastic and metal, and Terry Fox learned to walk and run on that.  A fake leg did not stop him.  Terry Fox played for a wheelchair basketball team.

Terry Fox understood that it was important to learn about cancer so that doctors could find a cure for it.  He wanted to let other people know about this.  He decided to set a goal to run across Canada to make people see how important it was to learn about cancer, and raise as much money as he could.  He started to run the Marathon of Hope on April 12th 1980.  He called it that because he had a lot of hope that there would be a cure for cancer.  As he was running, he became sicker and had to stop after running for 143 days.  He died one month before his 23rd birthday.  There is a statue of him in Niagara Falls.  Every year, people run and raise money to give to find a cure for cancer.  Terry Fox ran so bravely so that people would not get cancer.  I really think that he ran for me and my friends and my family.

Before we did our Terry Fox run at my school, we had to do some training.  For the training, we ran around the school field for practice.  On the first day we did 1 lap.  On the second day we did 2 laps.  On the third day, we ran 3 laps and on the fourth day, we did the actual 1km route.  The Terry Fox run was on the fifth day.  It was so exhausting!  I could hardly sprint on the third day.  One of my friends sprinted all of the laps on all of the days.  She is so fast!

We also had to bring in Toonies to raise money for the Terry Fox run.  We had set a goal of a lot of money, and each time we got closer to the goal, a Grade 6 student or our principal could colour a part of a picture of Terry Fox.  We didn't reach our goal, but we still raised a lot of money.  We gave that money to find a cure for cancer.

On Friday September 30th, my school had the Terry Fox Run.  We had to run laps and each lap was 1km long.  At school, that morning, we were given a sticker and we had to write who we were running for.  I ran for every adult who had cancer, and who also has kids.  One of my friends also ran for the same group of people.  Each time we completed a lap, we got a tally mark on our sticker.  Before we went outside for our run, we had a pep rally to get us warmed up.  We did a bunch of stretches and simple exercises to get our hearts pumping blood and oxygen around our body.  This year, I ran 5km, in half an hour.  Last year, I had run 4km, so I was very happy this year to have run more.  I think I want to set a new goal for next year!

I Want To Go To Flying Squirrel!

At school, some of my friends have been talking about going to Flying Squirrel.  Flying Squirrel is an indoor, wall-to-wall trampoline park.  This sounds so exciting that I want to go, too.

I'd like to go for my next birthday, and my Mom said that she would think about it.  It will be so exciting and cool if I can go with my friends and family.  My friends talk about the place a lot and I also hear about it on the radio, when the ads come between the songs.  I fell like it will be a little expensive but I really hope that I can go for my next birthday.

My best friend has already been to Flying Squirrel and she keeps telling me about how awesome the place is.  She said that there are different sizes and shapes of trampolines.  There is also a foam pit for the kids to jump into.  You can also buy food and drinks, there.  I'm sure it must be a really busy place!  You need to wear socks inside the park, and your parents need to see you and know where you are all the time.

My birthday is in the summer and I know that it is still a long way away, but it would be so great if I could go there!

On Thursday, I had three dance classes.  I had Ballet, Acro Gym, and Tap.  In Ballet and Tap, we reviewed and went over things that we already knew.  Acro Gym was so much fun.  I did cartwheels, headstands, backward rolls, and other gymnastics stuff.  To do a proper backward roll, you need to stand up straight, first.  Take your hands and put them on your shoulders with the palm facing upwards.  Then, squat down.  Then, with a lot of speed, you roll backwards.  You have to push off the ground with your hands and land up on your feet.  It is way harder than you think!  We practiced everything a lot of times.

I love all my classes, this year.  I can't wait for next week!

Welcome back barbecue and cookie selling

On Thursday, there was a barbecue at my school.  It was to welcome back all the students and the teachers. The barbecue happens only once a year and this was my fourth one.  Actually, this was my seventh barbecue because I used to go when my sister was at this school.  There was a lot of food.  There were burgers, hotdogs, salads, appetizers, and lots of desserts.  This year, most of the deserts were made with chocolate.  I really liked all the food that was there.

I met a lot of my friends and my teachers.  I said hello to Ms. Cowdy, of course, but I also got to say hello to my old teachers like Ms. Boyer, Ms. Hamby, Ms. Wilkins.  I also met our librarian, Ms. Kidd, Ms. Jones, and Ms. Smith.  My principal, Ms. Polski, was also there.  I spent a lot of time in the playground and on the monkey bars with my friends.

Every year Elvis comes to the barbecue to sing for us.  I'm sure this is not the real Elvis.  It is a man dressed up who sounds like Elvis.  This year, he sang a lot of songs, which we all enjoyed because he is a great singer.  He lets the kids sing along and dance with him as part of his band.  I really liked his white suit with the blue sequins and stones.  He also wore very cool glasses.  I can't wait to see him again next year.

This year is my second year as a Brownie.  One of the things that we do is sell cookies.  Yesterday, my Mom and I went in the afternoon to pick up 50 cases of Girl Guide cookies.  The Fall cookies are chocolate mint, and the Spring cookies are chocolate and vanilla cream.  After picking up the cookies, my Brownie friends and I met at a nearby playground.

We split up into three groups and went to sell cookies around the neighbourhood.  There were four girls in my group.  We went to the houses and asked if they wanted to buy cookies.  The cookies sell for $5 a box, and $60 for a case.  We sold for one and a half hours.  When everybody came back to the playground, we had sold 7 cases.

My Mom is the lead Guider and she got a snack for us.  She got juice boxes, honey sticks, granola bars, oranges, and goldfish crackers.  Then we played until all the parents came.  While playing, I got rope burns on my hands.  They really hurt but I did not cry.  I really want to go cookie selling again another day.

My first week back at school

My school started on Tuesday September 6th and I know almost everyone in my class. I am in Room 5, but we share the same really big classroom with Room 4.  This is the same room where my sister started when she went to this school.  I love my classroom!  My teacher's name is Ms. Cowdy and she is awesome!  Ms. Jones is the teacher for Room 4.

In class this week, we made name tags for our desks and also for our coat hooks. For our desk name tags, we got a piece of paper and folded it into four sections.  Then, on one of the sections, we wrote an acrostic poem. This is a type of poem where you write a quality about yourself that begins with each letter in your name.  I wrote...Amazing, Awesome, Nice, Young, Active.  We had to write our favorite things on the other sections.  For our coat hook name tags, we got a star and we coloured it, then wrote our name on the star.

We also made up some classroom rules.  We worked in pairs, with a buddy who had the same coloured elastic band as us. My buddy and I wrote the rules on sticky notes, and Ms. Jones wrote them down, while Ms. Cowdy read them.

For our first gym class, we played Chuck the Chicken. To play this game, you split into two groups.  The teacher throws a rubber chicken.  The group that catches it makes a line and passes the chicken to each other, over their head and through their legs.  The other group makes a circle and one person runs around the circle the whole time the chicken is being passed.  The points a group gets is the same as the number of times they run in a circle.  When the chicken reaches the end of the line, it is passed to the other group.  I didn't like this game very much because there was too much yelling and it was really loud.

On Friday, we had our very first Fresh Air Friday.  We started doing this last year.  Every Friday is early dismissal and the whole school goes outside to learn. On Friday, my class went into the Whispering Woods to do a listening walk.  A listening walk is when you are by yourself and you walk and listen to the sounds around you.  You are not allowed to talk.  We also played a game.  Ms. Jones gave us the name of an animal and we had to make that animal's noise to find our family.

This week, I also started Wendy's after school care program and some of my friends are in there too.  This will be my last year as a Chinchilla.  This is the name that is given to kids from K-3.  My sister volunteers here, so I get to see her after school!  We played basketball one afternoon and I got 28 baskets!  We also did a safety check.  The volunteers put up signs about unsafe things, and we had to go around reading them and writing them down.  We then went outside to see if there was anything unsafe and we found some broken glass.  I almost stepped on a piece!  On Friday, we watched Space Jam on the big screen to end the week.
