IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is Christmas Eve, I love Christmas eve a lot. For Christmas I want some black clothes and a pair of black boots, but I don't want high heel boots. I would like Uggs. Uggs are a type of boots. They are flat at the bottom and warm inside so you can wear them on a chilly Autumn day.

My parents are doing some work for Christmas I think they are wrapping presents or putting Christmas pictures in frames. I am also doing Christmas work, I wrapped presents for my dad, mo, uncle and my sister. I wrapped some of my stuff and some things I made.

I can't wait for Santa to come tonight. I hope I am on the nice list this year. I always wake up everyone on Christmas day and I am also the first to wake up. I wake up at 7:00am every Christmas day. I love it when I dream about hearing Santa's sleigh bells and sugarplums. I get so happy on this day.

Santa wrote me a letter and I learned how to say hello in reindeer. This is hello in reindeer, Biscup. It is kinda funny to say and Santa also told me that Mrs.Claus was at Elfin Elementary School to tell the elf's how she became a engineer. I love Christmas so much. I can't wait for tonight. I can't wait for Christmas.

Terry Fox Ran For Me!

Terry Fox was born on July 28th 1958.  He was really good at sports when he was at school.  When he was 19 years old, he found out that he had cancer in his leg.  The doctors told him that they would have to cut off his leg and he had to take very strong medicine.  They gave him a fake leg made of plastic and metal, and Terry Fox learned to walk and run on that.  A fake leg did not stop him.  Terry Fox played for a wheelchair basketball team.

Terry Fox understood that it was important to learn about cancer so that doctors could find a cure for it.  He wanted to let other people know about this.  He decided to set a goal to run across Canada to make people see how important it was to learn about cancer, and raise as much money as he could.  He started to run the Marathon of Hope on April 12th 1980.  He called it that because he had a lot of hope that there would be a cure for cancer.  As he was running, he became sicker and had to stop after running for 143 days.  He died one month before his 23rd birthday.  There is a statue of him in Niagara Falls.  Every year, people run and raise money to give to find a cure for cancer.  Terry Fox ran so bravely so that people would not get cancer.  I really think that he ran for me and my friends and my family.

Before we did our Terry Fox run at my school, we had to do some training.  For the training, we ran around the school field for practice.  On the first day we did 1 lap.  On the second day we did 2 laps.  On the third day, we ran 3 laps and on the fourth day, we did the actual 1km route.  The Terry Fox run was on the fifth day.  It was so exhausting!  I could hardly sprint on the third day.  One of my friends sprinted all of the laps on all of the days.  She is so fast!

We also had to bring in Toonies to raise money for the Terry Fox run.  We had set a goal of a lot of money, and each time we got closer to the goal, a Grade 6 student or our principal could colour a part of a picture of Terry Fox.  We didn't reach our goal, but we still raised a lot of money.  We gave that money to find a cure for cancer.

On Friday September 30th, my school had the Terry Fox Run.  We had to run laps and each lap was 1km long.  At school, that morning, we were given a sticker and we had to write who we were running for.  I ran for every adult who had cancer, and who also has kids.  One of my friends also ran for the same group of people.  Each time we completed a lap, we got a tally mark on our sticker.  Before we went outside for our run, we had a pep rally to get us warmed up.  We did a bunch of stretches and simple exercises to get our hearts pumping blood and oxygen around our body.  This year, I ran 5km, in half an hour.  Last year, I had run 4km, so I was very happy this year to have run more.  I think I want to set a new goal for next year!

I Want To Go To Flying Squirrel!

At school, some of my friends have been talking about going to Flying Squirrel.  Flying Squirrel is an indoor, wall-to-wall trampoline park.  This sounds so exciting that I want to go, too.

I'd like to go for my next birthday, and my Mom said that she would think about it.  It will be so exciting and cool if I can go with my friends and family.  My friends talk about the place a lot and I also hear about it on the radio, when the ads come between the songs.  I fell like it will be a little expensive but I really hope that I can go for my next birthday.

My best friend has already been to Flying Squirrel and she keeps telling me about how awesome the place is.  She said that there are different sizes and shapes of trampolines.  There is also a foam pit for the kids to jump into.  You can also buy food and drinks, there.  I'm sure it must be a really busy place!  You need to wear socks inside the park, and your parents need to see you and know where you are all the time.

My birthday is in the summer and I know that it is still a long way away, but it would be so great if I could go there!

On Thursday, I had three dance classes.  I had Ballet, Acro Gym, and Tap.  In Ballet and Tap, we reviewed and went over things that we already knew.  Acro Gym was so much fun.  I did cartwheels, headstands, backward rolls, and other gymnastics stuff.  To do a proper backward roll, you need to stand up straight, first.  Take your hands and put them on your shoulders with the palm facing upwards.  Then, squat down.  Then, with a lot of speed, you roll backwards.  You have to push off the ground with your hands and land up on your feet.  It is way harder than you think!  We practiced everything a lot of times.

I love all my classes, this year.  I can't wait for next week!

Welcome back barbecue and cookie selling

On Thursday, there was a barbecue at my school.  It was to welcome back all the students and the teachers. The barbecue happens only once a year and this was my fourth one.  Actually, this was my seventh barbecue because I used to go when my sister was at this school.  There was a lot of food.  There were burgers, hotdogs, salads, appetizers, and lots of desserts.  This year, most of the deserts were made with chocolate.  I really liked all the food that was there.

I met a lot of my friends and my teachers.  I said hello to Ms. Cowdy, of course, but I also got to say hello to my old teachers like Ms. Boyer, Ms. Hamby, Ms. Wilkins.  I also met our librarian, Ms. Kidd, Ms. Jones, and Ms. Smith.  My principal, Ms. Polski, was also there.  I spent a lot of time in the playground and on the monkey bars with my friends.

Every year Elvis comes to the barbecue to sing for us.  I'm sure this is not the real Elvis.  It is a man dressed up who sounds like Elvis.  This year, he sang a lot of songs, which we all enjoyed because he is a great singer.  He lets the kids sing along and dance with him as part of his band.  I really liked his white suit with the blue sequins and stones.  He also wore very cool glasses.  I can't wait to see him again next year.

This year is my second year as a Brownie.  One of the things that we do is sell cookies.  Yesterday, my Mom and I went in the afternoon to pick up 50 cases of Girl Guide cookies.  The Fall cookies are chocolate mint, and the Spring cookies are chocolate and vanilla cream.  After picking up the cookies, my Brownie friends and I met at a nearby playground.

We split up into three groups and went to sell cookies around the neighbourhood.  There were four girls in my group.  We went to the houses and asked if they wanted to buy cookies.  The cookies sell for $5 a box, and $60 for a case.  We sold for one and a half hours.  When everybody came back to the playground, we had sold 7 cases.

My Mom is the lead Guider and she got a snack for us.  She got juice boxes, honey sticks, granola bars, oranges, and goldfish crackers.  Then we played until all the parents came.  While playing, I got rope burns on my hands.  They really hurt but I did not cry.  I really want to go cookie selling again another day.

My first week back at school

My school started on Tuesday September 6th and I know almost everyone in my class. I am in Room 5, but we share the same really big classroom with Room 4.  This is the same room where my sister started when she went to this school.  I love my classroom!  My teacher's name is Ms. Cowdy and she is awesome!  Ms. Jones is the teacher for Room 4.

In class this week, we made name tags for our desks and also for our coat hooks. For our desk name tags, we got a piece of paper and folded it into four sections.  Then, on one of the sections, we wrote an acrostic poem. This is a type of poem where you write a quality about yourself that begins with each letter in your name.  I wrote...Amazing, Awesome, Nice, Young, Active.  We had to write our favorite things on the other sections.  For our coat hook name tags, we got a star and we coloured it, then wrote our name on the star.

We also made up some classroom rules.  We worked in pairs, with a buddy who had the same coloured elastic band as us. My buddy and I wrote the rules on sticky notes, and Ms. Jones wrote them down, while Ms. Cowdy read them.

For our first gym class, we played Chuck the Chicken. To play this game, you split into two groups.  The teacher throws a rubber chicken.  The group that catches it makes a line and passes the chicken to each other, over their head and through their legs.  The other group makes a circle and one person runs around the circle the whole time the chicken is being passed.  The points a group gets is the same as the number of times they run in a circle.  When the chicken reaches the end of the line, it is passed to the other group.  I didn't like this game very much because there was too much yelling and it was really loud.

On Friday, we had our very first Fresh Air Friday.  We started doing this last year.  Every Friday is early dismissal and the whole school goes outside to learn. On Friday, my class went into the Whispering Woods to do a listening walk.  A listening walk is when you are by yourself and you walk and listen to the sounds around you.  You are not allowed to talk.  We also played a game.  Ms. Jones gave us the name of an animal and we had to make that animal's noise to find our family.

This week, I also started Wendy's after school care program and some of my friends are in there too.  This will be my last year as a Chinchilla.  This is the name that is given to kids from K-3.  My sister volunteers here, so I get to see her after school!  We played basketball one afternoon and I got 28 baskets!  We also did a safety check.  The volunteers put up signs about unsafe things, and we had to go around reading them and writing them down.  We then went outside to see if there was anything unsafe and we found some broken glass.  I almost stepped on a piece!  On Friday, we watched Space Jam on the big screen to end the week.

The Great Grand Opening of the New Absolute Dance Studio

Yesterday, my Mom, my sister, and I all went to the grand opening of our new dance studio. It was amazing! We all loved it and the new studio has six classrooms, and the old one had three! We also got Cotton Candy! I did not have Cotton Candy for a long time and it tastes like fluffy clouds. We even saw some awesome gymnastics.  I am going to take gymnastics class tomorrow.  I am so excited for my classes!  I am only doing gymnastics tomorrow, but my classes are Hip Hop, Ballet,Jazz, Tap, and Song and dance (Song and Dance is like singing and dancing).  We also got to see the front desk.  It is so big! We saw some balloon animals being made when we were leaving and we saw a really cool hat made out of balloons too.

I got to see Miss Erica, Miss Robin, Miss Angel, and Miss Olivia again. I even got to see some of my friends too and we got swag bags and entered our names in a cool raffle. The person who wins gets a yoga mat and a water bottle.

I am very excited to start my dance classes for this year.

A cool trip to Heritage Park

On Heritage Day my Mom and I went to Heritage Park. There was a long line to buy tickets, and we had to stay in line until the gates were opened. When we got in we picked up a passport at Midnapore Station and we took part in a scavenger hunt. In the scavenger hunt we went to different stations and got a stamp if we completed an activity.

We started the scavenger hunt by going to the post office to buy some land for $2,800. We got a pre-built house, some land, a well and a cow. I even got to do laundry the way the early settlers used to do it!

Then we went to the HBC Fort to see what 20 beaver pelts could buy us in the olden days. I learned that you could buy a blanket, lots of beads and a cotton dress. We watched a Voyageur show, and we learned that the Voyageurs didn't take baths to protect themselves from bugs. The dirt kept the bugs from biting the Voyageurs. The Voyageurs worked for the Hudson Bay Company by trading pelts.

I played a native game that involved a stick, some string and a wooden loop. You had to try and get the stick in the wooden loop. The loop got smaller and smaller and smaller. I did really well at the game. I got the stick through all of the loops. Then we did a relay race and I won. We had to ride a mop with a paper horse head on the top  across the grass and grab a flag and run back and put it in a stand before the other person did.

Then we went to the town hall to learn about the paper and how it was made. I got to see paper getting made in a press. We leaned that at the previous night's Town Hall meeting it was  decided that they would build a new Town Hall made of sandstone. We also got ice cream and some things from the bakery too.

The Pond in our Backyard

This week we started to make a pond. We are still working on it but we are almost done. So far we have dug up the pond, put a plastic sheet, filled the pond with dirt, put another plastic sheet, filled the pond with water, put an outline of stones, and cut the extra plastic. It only took a few days and today my dad is going to a shop to get some plants to plant around the pond. He will get some plants that grow around ponds.

I was helping him a lot and I got him lemonade and kept him company. I also collected some rocks so it was easier to pull back the soil so there is more room for more. I even carried some stones to give to my dad and he put them in their spot. My dad is going to put a pump behind the stones and make water come out of the cracks in-between the stones.

My dad worked for hours and hours. I gave him three glasses of lemonade on really hot days. I felt really bad for him because he did all of this work on his summer vacation.

I hope that some creatures like birds, frogs and insects will come and stay at the pond.

A trip to Calaway Park

On the 9th of July my dad and I went to Calaway Park. It is a fun place where families go to have fun. It was so much fun, but when we had reached  we had to stay in the car until 9:00 to go inside. Then we had to stay still for 5 min while the park was opening and a clock had a count down.

Then we got to play some games. I really liked the Log Ride and the Dream Machine. In the first, you ride a log and splash into the water when you go downhill. On the second one, you are on a seat and you spin in circles and you feel funny.

I rode almost all the rides by myself because I was tall enough. I even went on the Tower of Power. It is a ride that gives you a great view of the park and comes down really fast and stops right when you think you are going to crash and fall on the ground.

At lunch we went on a train ride to see all of the park. It made me feel so nice. After that it got so hot I felt like a hot fire and as we went to the Airplane Ride my dad stayed in the shade the whole time.

We could not do all the rides because we did not have time. After a while we went to my Mom's school to pick her up and went home.  I was so tired that I fell asleep in the car.

The special 8th birthday party

On July 2nd  I had my 8th birthday party. I couldn't have my birthday party on the 7th of July because my mom has work and I was a bit sad that we couldn't have the party on my real birthday like last year. But I had an awesome time.

About 15 of my classmates came to the party. At 12;00 we went to the drive way and played with some side walk chalk. My friend Alana drew a great dragon in blue. Then we went to the park for a bit.
We had a slip-n-slide. It was cool doing that. We did it outside. We also had some snacks to have if we got hungry while riding on the slip-n-slide. We ate some chips and fruit with chocolate dip.

I dumped three buckets of ice cold water on my head with one of my classmates named David. It was so awesome. David even tried to refill his bucket with water drops from his head! I looked at him with a weird look on my face because it was so crazy.

After that we had we had some burgers and hot dogs. Then we went inside to get a slice of cake. It was a chocolate cake and not an ice cream cake like last year because we couldn't get one. If didn't want cake, we could have ice cream.

We went outside to eat the cake. I sat in the corner of the deck with David. I had some lemonade water to drink and chatted with Eiman and Teagan. David and I wished our friend Evelyn could come but she had to go to her grandpa's birthday party. Her grandpa is 90 years old now.

A Taekwon-do weekend

This weekend I had my Taekwon-do testing for a blue stripe on my green belt. A blue stripe is like a bridge between a green belt and a blue belt. I had to do patterns, step sparring, board braking and at the end, again some step sparring.

My belt pattern is Won Hyo; it was discovered by a monk who discovered Buddhism; it has 28 moves in it. I think the hardest move was a side kick with a punch while pivoting my other foot. I also did my junior pattern, Do San; it is another name for a Korean patriot and has 24 moves.

Then I did step sparring. I did three step sparring to do; my opponent did the attack first and I did the defense and then we swapped; I did the attack and my opponent did the defense. After step sparring i had to break a board. I did an elbow strike on a yellow board. I was so nervous and didn't use my whole body so I didn't break the board on the first two tries; when I broke the board I HIT MY FOREHEAD on the holder!

For sparring I fought a 9 year old boy and got hit in the stomach but I was brave and did not cry. A black belt named Miss Brandy got a kick to the face and fell on her back.

Today we went to our Taekwon -do end of the year party. I ate crackers, ham, salami, hot dog, brownie cup cake, and two cans of grape flavoured Crush. At the party Mr. Arden, my Sa Bum (master), was tickling me all the time.

I have two more days of school and I have a surprise for my classmates tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolute Dance recital weekend

Last weekend my dance studio had its dance recital. It was held at the Bella Theater in Mount Royal University and the theme was 'Canada'. There was three shows of ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, glee, acro, and more.

I danced in the Junior show and did the opening number for the Teen show. My sister did the Primary and Teen shows, but watched mine and after I did the opening number I watched the Teen show too.

I was in seven dances and I was so surprised that I could do seven quick changes without being late! My mom was volunteering and helped me with my quick changes.

The teen dancers were so awesome. They were awesome because they did so many chest rolls and a lot of flips. A dancer named AJ accidentally forgot The Bounce in his dance.

My friend Charmaine said that in the Primary show there were a lot of little kids and Charmaine was a big giant dancing behind them. At the end of the Junior show we did a curtain call and when I went to watch the Teen show I was exhausted but happy.

Now we are doing boot camp to stay in shape over the summer.

In September we will have a NEW studio!!!!! I have heard the new studio will have trampoline floors!!!

Julia's Birthday Party

Today my classmate Julia had a birthday party. She became 8 years old.

It was at an indoor playground called Tree House. It took some time to get to the party. All my friends were there.

It was really fun. We had a bouncy house! I did a front flip on the bouncy house. Haotian was so surprised when I did that. She tried and landed on her belly! We also had a lot of slides!!

We had pizza for lunch, sang "Happy Birthday" and had cake!!!

Before the party, I went to my mom's school walk. Some of the teachers and students went walking. They walked for donations to help the poor people.

My mom and I could not walk because we had to get to the birthday party. But I got a new Maria Montessori t-shirt. Yay!

Becoming gardeners

I am going to plant some flowers and vegetables. Me and my dad went to Jeff's house and got vegetables. we went in a green house to pick them.it was very cold it was like winter in may. We went home and had hot coco. I watched "Tom and Jerry" on my mom phone. I had Rolo flavoured hot coco.

Over the weekend I was sick I got sick in April on Saturday. I got sick wile tacking a nap. At school I had to use three Kleenex's to clear me nose. Teagan  was amazed by the sound

My weekend

On Friday I had two swimming classes. I had one during school, which I did with my class mates. After school I had another class, where we did front stroke, back stroke, front flutter kick and back flutter kick. When I came home I saw my uncle. I was so happy to see him, but he had to leave Sunday night at 5:00 pm.

On Saturday I had my dance photos taken. I had to wake up at 6:00 am to get my hair and makeup done. My mom did my hair, and went to Spark camp. My sister did my makeup at the dance studio. At the studio I had my picture taken with my jazz, glee, tap and holiday production classes.

Monday 23 May 2016

My dance competitions

I dance competitive ballet. I did three competitions in the last few weeks. They were called Terpsichore, Candance and View Dance Challenge.

A lot of people came to compete and danced ballet, hip hop, tap, jazz and glee. My studio, Absolute Dance, sent a lot of dancers. My sister competed in  hip hop.

My dance was called "Be Mine, Butterfly". It is about a boy who wanted to catch butterflies but at the end the butterflies catch him in his net. We were a group of ten and I was a butterfly.

We won three awards - a High Excellence, a Platinum and a Gold.  I had a lot of fun!!!!!!

My first camping trip ever

I woke up on Saturday to go to Brownie camp and our car didn't work. But it got fixed so I went to Camp Evergreen.

At the camp we did a low rope course. We stayed in a cabin. and  Eiman helped me get set up for bed. I had a book to take to camp.to read at Quiet Time. It's name was Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It was the first book. my sister had it and she let me have it.

In the evening we went to a campfire and sang songs. At night I could not sleep very well because somebody told a ghost story and I got scared. In the morning I woke up with my head hanging off the top of the top bunk.

For breakfast we had a lot of bacon, then we had archery with real arrows! After that we went rock climbing and rode ponies. My pony's name was Warner.

At our last meal everyone was crying because we did not want to leave. My mom and sister came and brought me home.
